eddy merckx Laverado68 DISC Frameset White-Black (GLOSS)

Lavaredo68 roots back to the 1968 Giro. With Felice Gimondi in the mix, the Italians had a fellow countryman as favourite for their national Grand Tour. But it was Merckx who showed himself to be the strongest of them all, with stage 12 as absolute proof of that.

Eddy attacked at the start of the penultimate climb, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, chasing an early breakaway that was ten minutes up the road. While closing the gap alone through an unexpected blizzard, Eddy left Gimondi behind. Nothing could hold him back. He caught the sole survivor of the breakaway with one
kilometre to go to win solo. He took the pink jersey, proving to the world that he was much more than just a sprinter. In fact, he had developed into a new Grand Tour winner.

The photos from the finish may be some of the best known photos of Eddy ever. Having just crossed the finish line with snow still falling, Eddy gets a blanket wrapped around him to protect him from the unexpected and excruciating cold.

What makes this bike special?

• This Eddy Merckx is perfect for endurance riders. This bike is literally made to be used for hours at a time, a perfect combination of stiffness and comfort.
• Nostalgic Design inspired by team Peugeot that Eddy Merckx formerly raced for. Do not be mistaken, these aren’t retro bikes. They are modern racers with a nostalgic wink.
• Power where you need it: the head tube and bottom bracket are really stiff. You will never lose watts on this bike.
